Most people assume that players are going to play for as long as possible to try to earn as much as they can, but Worilds made $13.6 million from his four-year rookie contract and his season as Pittsburgh’s transition player. Locker finished his NFL career with $12.6 million in earnings. Willis, a superstar who made it to a lucrative contract extension, leaves having earned $42.6 million. They’re each vested in the NFL’s pension plan. It’s not obvious that these guys need more money. And then there’s the elephant in the room. Players are more aware of the physical damage that comes with playing football than ever before. They still make shortsighted, self-endangering decisions like Julian Edelman did in the Super Bowl, but it would be impossible to imagine that players aren’t at least thinking about retiring earlier than they have in the past, or that their logic might be shifting from getting as much as possible for as long as possible to getting enough before getting out. La situazione dei Colts non la conosco benissimo, però un gioco di corsa non lo avevano e con Gore potrebbero ottenerlo. Il problema è che deve reggere. Andre Johnson da a Luck un veterano forte e migliora il gruppo dei WR, ma diciamo che il gioco aereo non era un problema per i Colts In difesa non so dove devono migliorare, magari intervengono li con il draft. A sto punto, prima del draft, spero si trovi l'accordo per riportare a casa Big Vince Wilfork e si tentino le scommesse Bush ( siamo rimasti senza HB, Vereen ai Giants e Ridley ancora f.a.) e P. Su Big Vince semplicemente non è stata esercitata l'opzione per avere maggiore flessibilità salariale. Leggevo ieri che la sua priorità sarebbe rimanere a Foxboro firmando a meno. Spero che non si vada al draft sulla secondaria, perchè si rischierebbe parecchio. Tra l'altro c'è da vedere la questione Jets-Revis perchè, nel caso venisse confermato il "tampering" potrebbe esserci un clamoroso scambio di pick al primo giro del draft #6 per #32... The New England Patriots wide receiver restructured his contract with the New England Patriots, according to a source. A plan has been in place since Tuesday for Amendola to cut down his salary, giving the Patriots extra cap room. Amendola’s new contract is for three years and worth $12.75 million, according to various reports. His new deal maxes out at $15 million with added incentives. Amendola was due for a $5.7 million cap hit in 2015. He served as the Patriots’ No. 3 receiver in 2014, catching 27 passes for 200 yards with a touchdown. He lifted his game at the end of the season, catching an extra 11 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns during the postseason. Restructuring Amendola’s contract shouldn’t preclude them from adding other wide receivers this offseason.
